ATE AND TUCTA CONCLUDE FOUR-YEAR PROJECT ON SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND YOUTH EMPLOYABILITY

It was a cause for celebration as the Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) and the Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA), supported by Danish Industry (DI) and the Danish Trade Union Development Agency (DTDA), announced the end of the Skills Development project during the TVET Conference held today November 8  2024  at Dar es Salaam                         Serena Hotel.                     

The event marked the conclusion of a skills development and youth employability project that began in 2021, with social partners presenting a joint paper to the government on skills development.

The Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, Hon. Prof. Adolf Mkenda, highlighted the challenges of unemployment across Africa. He emphasised the importance of training institutions like VETA collaborating with employers during curriculum development and skills transfer to enhance course relevance.

ATE CEO, Ms. Suzanne Ndomba-Doran, thanked project partners and pledged continued support for skills development in Tanzania. She announced that ATE will soon launch sector skills councils to further improve skills training and reduce the unemployment rate.

During the panel discussion, representatives from training institutions (VETA and Don Bosco), NACTVET, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, employers (Kilombero Sugar and TBL), TAeSA, and PMO-Labour, Employment, Youth, and Persons with Disability expressed support for the joint paper by TUCTA and ATE on skills development and employability. 

Partners and supporters of the project were awarded with certificates.
